Technological development in the field of photoionization techniques coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometers (TOFMS)
As a near fragment free ionization technique photoionization is particularly suitable for online analytics of gas and particle phase if coupled to a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. One aim of this work is the optimization of the vuv-light generation for single photon ionization (SPI) to increase the efficiency and sensitivity of this method. Another aim is the further development of a bipolar single particle TOFMS coupled with several diverse photoionization techniques. To obtain especially the information about harmful organic substances on each single particle a combination of different methods is used. Simultaneously the information about inorganic elements of the particle (particle core) shall be collected from laser desorption experiments to determine the origin of the particle.
